It’s my birthday! Yay me.
This year is obviously a bit different, i.e., no booze (boo) and a baby bump (hooray!). There have been lots of birthdays when I wasn’t pregnant but wanted to be, and I’ve often wondered ‘maybe this time next year…’ – so it really is a double-celebration this birthday, and I wanted to wear something to reflect that.
It’s difficult to put into words how much I love this Vivien digital floral print – it’s just glorious. And it does everything a digi-print should i.e. looks catwalky cool but also bright, colourful and pretty (it will be Spring again one day).
I already wore this dress, with a clash-print bomber jacket and red ankle boots – during London Fashion Week to interview the very-colourful Henry Holland for a Grazia event, and frankly fell in love (with the dress; sorry Henry….)
So I couldn’t resist wearing it again for my birthday.
Of course, the great thing about a dress that’s got this much going on is that it does all the work for you, accessories-wise. Not that that stops me; for my birthday drinks I added a pair of neutral silver kitten heels, a pink sheepskin stole (to match my virgin Cosmo cocktails), and my new favourite go-to bag; the Baukjen Silver Aztec Clutch.
If you just buy one dress this season, I think this should be it. It’s the perfect high-low style for dressing up or down. I can already imagine wearing this on babymoon, for a wedding, or just for feeling gorgeous in the office. And check out the maxi and tunic versions too…
But most of all, I can’t think of a better dress to celebrate in – whatever the occasion.
