Maternity Style Tips – Part Two

I’ve put together some tips that I learnt during my own pregnancies, I hope they work for you too.

FLUID FABRICS

Go for maternity clothes in soft comfy fabrics like jersey. They feel fabulous, stretch and drape beautifully, blend easily with your existing wardrobe and grow with you.

CELEBRATE YOUR CLEAVAGE

For many of us, pregnancy means great cleavage. Make the most of your new curves with
necklines that flatter your décolletage.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Create a fuss free maternity wardrobe. Clean lines, good quality fabrics and classic pieces
create an understated and undeniably stylish dress code.

BIGGER ISN’T BETTER

Don’t be fooled into going up a few sizes in search of perfect maternity style. The extra fabric may fit over your bump, but it’ll swamp the other parts of your body.

GRAB A BAG

Transform your day outfit by trading your tote for a stylish clutch. Sweep your hair into a
messy chignon and pair with a statement necklace for iconic evening chic.

DON’T DELAY

In my first pregnancy I hung on too long to my favourite pre-pregnancy clothes – long
after they were flattering or comfortable. Avoid constantly pulling tops down and trousers up and invest sooner in good quality maternity clothes.

AVOID TRIMESTER BUYING

There’s no need to buy for a specific trimester within your pregnancy. Opt for designs that come in pregnancy friendly fabrics and have clever design techniques that will grow with you.

SWAP YOUR SHOES

Take your look from day to night by swapping ankle boots or brogues for sexy heels. Take along your softest ballerinas for blissful comfort on the way home.

LAYER LOVE

Master the art of layering during your pregnancy so you can peel layers off as you feel warmer throughout the day or throw on a cover up when you get cold.

DON’T STAY IN

During my first pregnancy I didn’t always know what to wear to events. If you feel the same,
don’t stay in, just email us at TheGirls@IsabellaOliver.com. We’re here to help.
