Birthday Party at Churchill War Rooms

Hi, Baukjen here.

On Saturday we celebrated our friend’s, Natalie, 40th birthday. Natalie and her husband Mark had chosen Churchill War Rooms as the location for the party. This underground location was used by Winston Churchill and the War Cabinet during World War II.

Sara, David and I headed down to the location opposite St. James park dressed in 1940’s attire. When we arrived we saw that absolutely everyone had dressed up and together with the location, it really felt like we were in the 1940’s. There was a band playing music from that era and there were lots of little touches such as ration books on the tables that completed the look and feel. After drinks we had a delicious dinner followed by dancing. During the evening there was also the opportunity to walk around the underground war rooms – it was very impressive. We took some photos though it was quite dark – hopefully you still get an impression of the war rooms.

We will definitely be going back to take our time to look at everything in more detail and read all the materials.
