Glamping continued

Hi, Baukjen here.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about an upcoming "glamping trip" with friends. Quite a few people emailed me to say they loved the look of the set up. Also many at Isabella Oliver loved it and I think there are a few bookings being made by the team here.

However, one reply came rather unexpected. It was from my mother in law who reads this blog (hello!). She, and my father-in-law, live in the country in the Netherlands in a place I never knew existed until I met my husband's family. It is very picturesque and remote. Of course in the past 10 years, I have been there many many times. Anyway, after reading the blog entry about the upcoming glamping trip in the UK, she emailed me to say that there is a Feather Down Farm 10 minutes from their house! I can't believe how of all places in the world, there is one just around the corner from my in laws... And we never knew or came across it.

Who is BdSA?

Hi, Baukjen here.

Today, Geoff and Becky were at lunch at a fashion company we meet up with every so often to exchange experiences and learnings. They are a fantastic company with a well established brand, excellent business practices and a great attitude to business.

Anyway, during lunch, their marketing director asked "Who is BdSA?" He was referring to the blog entries authored by BdSA. Well, that's me, Baukjen. My author name used to be simply "Baukjen". However at some point, I think I had been on maternity leave or on holiday, I simply could not remember for the life of me what my password was for blogging. Becky had to set up a new author name and password for me and so BdSA was created (the initials of my first and last name). We never realised that the name makes no sense to anyone else, so from now on, if its me, I'll start with "Hi, Baukjen here".

Sorry for the confusion and thank you to Mr B.

The first week of Isabella Oliver 365

Hi,

a week ago today we launched Isabella Oliver 365. Most items are due in early March so reserving the clothes is only possible at this stage. It has been a great week with lots of great pr coverage, lovely emails from customers and friends and family (to all - thank you!) and also lots of pre-orders. The Striped Tank Dress, which was featured in Grazia magazine here in the UK has so many pre-orders that there are only a few pieces left. Fantastic news and of course a challenge for us to see if we can source more of this fabric in time to stock again during the season. Thank you everyone for all the support.

Thank you Boudoir

We've just received a box of cupcakes from our UK PR company, Boudoir PR, to celebrate the launch of the 365 collection. They are a feast to look at, orange! and delicious. Thank you Boudoir!

P.s. If you're in London, you can order these delicious cupcakes at www.crumbsanddoilies.co.uk

Our Summer Wish List So Far

We have been scouring the web for accessory essentials that are perfect for the warmer months ahead. Take a look at the pieces that have made our summer wish list so far…

We love a statement piece of jewellery or three, and an oversized cocktail ring is a chic place to start. This amber ring by Bottega Veneta (available from Net-a-Porter) looks fabulous with the tan and bronze tones that are huge for spring summer 2009.

Prefer classic black? Then visit Browns and purchase this quirky Bex Rox multi-stone ring – timeless style.

Bold wristwear may have been popular for autumn winter, however it continues to be big this year too. Try this gold crystal bracelet by Philippe Audibert (available from Net-a-Porter) for a little understated sparkle.

Wear over a long sleeved T for a glamorous daytime accent, or with a long fluid maxi dress to perfect the goddess look.

Bags are a vital component to any outfit and we adore this gold metallic clutch by Anna Vince – ideal for adding a little Art Deco to your eveningwear. Available from Browns now.

Isabella Oliver 365 in Grazia

We were extremely pleased to see Isabella Oliver 365 featured in this week’s Grazia this morning – what a great way to start the day. The Striped Tank Dress is featured on page 8 in the Fashion Charts, Grazia saying, “Isabella Oliver is launching a collection for non-pregnant ladies – we couldn’t ignore this stripy number £150 www.isabellaoliver.com”. Thank you Grazia.

For our US blog readers

My brother whom lives in New York, emailed us last night requesting help. If there is any way you can help, that would be wonderful.

Dear all,

This concerns a very close friend of ours who is desperately looking for a bone marrow donor. In case there's any way you can help...

We'd like to bring as much media attention to this cause as possible. We're reaching out to everyone we know and hope you can help spread the word. Please go to www.oneforjasmina.com where you will see a very touching video (presented by her best friend Isabella) and more details on this cause.

Pop celebrity Rihanna has already joined the cause and an article was published last Friday on People.com

Thanks in advance for your support.

Glamping

Hi, Baukjen here. This summer we are going camping for the first time in a couple of decades! A friend has organised for a bunch of friends and kids to go for a long weekend. She calls it Glamping. If you're in the UK, have a look, it looks amazing and I think we will have loads of fun. Click here to visit the website.

It's coming

Hi, the brochures for Isabella Oliver 365 arrived in the office today. Everyone was excited to see them, it makes it all real. They are quite a bit thinner (less pages) than the maternity brochure so it felt light. Vanessa had a drinks/dinner with 20 mothers from Isabella's class and took a whole bunch along to show. The website is in the final stages and all teams are working hard on the last things. Not long to go...

Let It Snow

The snow has hit London. Although Christmas has been and gone, outside is looking extremely festive and in keeping with the white theme, we have chosen a few of our favourite icy-toned accessories.

We spotted this fabulous white patent Marc Jacobs tote on Net-a-Porter. Ideal for the office and everyday; this shopper looks clean and classic, wherever you're going.

Sunglasses are not just for summer, and iconic Rayban Wayfarers look good season to season. Shield your eyes from the the snowy glare with a pair of these style-savvy shades.

We love comfortable, reliable flats, and these Lanvin perforated pumps are a style staple. Try with Easy Leggings and a tunic-length maternity top for vintage-inspired chic.

If you love dressing up your décolletage, this Ligia Dias ribbon necklace is perfect and will add graphic contrast to classic black. Both are currently available from Matches.

AW09/10 Isabella Oliver 365

So today was the first shoot day of the Autumn Winter collection of Isabella Oliver 365. Very appropriate considering the snow pounded down on London. Not wonderful that we launched our spring summer collection today for maternity but that's the strange world of fashion. The shoot started late as everyone struggled to come in, though it was amazing that everyone made it considering the London transport or lack of it.

It was a great first day and already we look forward to wearing the pieces, though we hope that this year there will be a summer in between the shoot and the launch.

We have the rest of the week to go with one day off this week to go back in to the office.

We all arrived safely home from the shoot. Fireplace on, candles on, it feels like December.

Delays on order dispatch

Hi, there are severe weather conditions here in London resulting in few people being able to come in to work. We had put up a notice on the website that all orders may have a day or two delay in being dispatched due to the high volume of orders during the sale. Unfortunately this will definately be the case with the combination of the weather conditions now. We will dispatch your orders as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience!
