Guest blogger: Ceri Wheeldon, Fab after 50

We have a guest post from the lovely Ceri Wheeldon, founder of blog site Fab after 50 after she tweeted our Founder Baukjen regarding the interest that she had received whilst wearing the Isabella Oliver 365 Jersey Drape Dress. Baukjen loved the story so much that we approached Ceri to write a guest post about her experience for our blog and here it is.

Ceri is also currently working on an a ‘Dresses with Sleeves’ feature on her blog, in which she has mentioned a selection of Isabella Oliver pieces. Here is her take on the Isabella Oliver 365 Jersey Drape Dress.

When it comes to dresses with sleeves I am like a woman on a mission. I’m constantly on the lookout for a dress that fits, flatters, works with different accessories and can take me from day to evening.

It also has to travel well in my weekend bag. Cobalt blue happens to be one of my favourite colours, so I was pleased to find the Isabella Oliver 365 Jersey Drape Dress online. It was in fact the first dress I had attempted to buy online – normally I like to try things on.

The first time I wore was on a sunny day. I had been to a series of meetings in London and my husband was collecting me from the train station. As I made my way from the train to the car park I was stopped by another passenger (male) in his 30s , who said he just had to tell me how lovely I looked and that he would love to take me out for dinner. I have to confess that this is something that doesn’t happen to me often, in fact I cannot remember the last occasion I was asked out in the street. Of course I declined, said I was flattered but happily married and was just about to meet my husband. Two minutes later he approached me again, this time giving me his phone number on a piece of paper, just in case I changed my mind, which is how I arrived at the car and waiting husband with a phone number in my hand. Hubby was slightly bemused, admitted that I did look ’very nice’ in the dress, and asked if it came in any other colours. He ordered the grey one for me that same week!

The second time I wore the dress I received even more compliments from complete strangers – both male and female and it has become teasingly known as my ‘getting into trouble’ dress. It’s the first dress OH suggests I wear when we go out for dinner.

It was very flattering to have such a confidence boost at the age of 52- and know that I hadn’t become entirely invisible over 50 – even if it was mostly down to the colour of the dress! Even better that I could share the moment with the readers of www.fabafterfifty.co.uk.

Today I’m Wearing…

I’m waiting for the day when I can finally start to wear shorts and summer dresses but considering what’s been happening outside recently, I am keeping myself shower proof!

Today I’m going to do a recce for our upcoming shoot, which involves being out all day checking out locations, so I’ve gone for The Everyday Parka in Cobalt Blue and the Zip Crew Neck. I love those colours mixed together and paired with my Hunter wellies, I’m ready for my little adventure- come rain or shine!

Reese Witherspoon spotted wearing the Isabella Oliver Maternity Cap Scoop Top

Once again, Reese Witherspoon has been spotted wearing one of our essential maternity pieces.

The actress was pictured arriving at the Los Angeles International Airport on Friday wearing the Isabella Oliver Maternity Cap Scoop Top in Heather Grey.

The Cap Scoop Top is a maternity wardrobe essential and Reese stylishly layers it with a tan leather jacket and a navy spotted scarf. The actress looked chic and relaxed in her outfit as she travelled back home from Washington.

The Isabella Oliver 365 Stripe Cowl Top featured in the Daily Mail

It is always exciting to receive national coverage, so we were very pleased to see the Isabella Oliver 365 Stripe Cowl Top featured in today’s Daily Mail.

The top was styled in a feature about modernising your wardrobe by adding statement pieces and bright colours. The top was teamed with cropped navy trousers and a bright yellow jacket for a summery look.

Another A-lister has fallen in love with our maternity collection. An few days ago, I blogged about Reese Witherspoon wearing the Isabella Oliver Maternity Ruched Cami, now she has been spotted in the Stripe Cap Scoop Neck Top in Navy, whilst out and about in Washington DC.

The actress looked casual and stylish; pairing the navy stripe top with a simple black cardigan and a black pair of trousers.

We think, Reese looked radiant as she wore a big smile for the camera, and we are looking forward to following her pregnancy style over the coming months.

Reese Witherspoon wears Isabella Oliver Maternity

Another pregnant celebrity has been spotted in an Isabella Oliver Maternity piece, and this time, it was actress Reese Witherspoon. The beautiful actress was pictured in the Isabella Oliver Maternity Ruched Cami last Friday arriving in Washington D.C. ahead of the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Reese opted for casual comfort as she layered the Ruched Cami with a black cardigan, blue jeans and a pair of converse.

We are excited to watch her bump grow and looking forward to seeing her wearing more gorgeous pieces from Isabella Oliver Maternity.

Today I am Wearing …

We’re all unhappy that the weather forecast is showing rain for the rest of the week but I’m not going to let that get me down, I’m cheering myself up by wearing my checked shirt and our fantastic trench. It is one of those contemporary pieces that I would love to have in two colours – which is quite handy as it also comes in navy! I’ve completed the look with a green umbrella – it’s a nice colourful accent to scare the rain away.
